Power Steering removal ek/em
hey guys i know some of you high hp guys needed to get rid of power steering to run you big turbos in your ek's. i haven't really found any solid info since the Honda tech search sucks major ***** i cant find any old posts. any of you guys using an fittings and stainless lines to loop your racks? I'm looking to get the part numbers or sizes of the fittings/ (i suppose NPT-> an) for my steering rack (99 civic si) i know that these racks differ from the 92-95 civics and Integras racks.
Also what is your guys opinion on running a reservoir i have heard of people having issues of built up pressure blowing the caps off of them and fluid going everywhere. Also what kind of fluid should i fill up my rack with?

on my si i bought a manual rack off a 96 cx civic everything is the same execpt the link between the steering column and the rack itself u need the one off a cx as well.. its funny u asked this cuase a long time ago when i was doing it to mine i couldnt find any info on it eather so i just bought the rack and it fit
lol i did ask this a while ago you are right, i dont wanna change the rack id rather have the benefit of a looped ps steering rack because the ratio is much better than one that is already manual. quick question
Do you need to drop/ lower the rack to uninstall/ install new fuel lines? im runnin -10 feed and -6 return.

Or find that kit some guy makes and see what he is using, or see what thread size it is by measuring the ID and going to a hardware store and checking what is close? lol That's what I would do, or run a tap down it if you have something around that size.
I used the Stealthmode kit, not sure if they sell one for your car, by the time I got done searching for all the thread sizes etc it was easier to just spend under $100 and be done with it.
I dont use a resevoir I just left the line open and only put a little fluid in it, I can jack my car up and turn the wheel as fast as I can and nothing squirts out

so the system is not closed? hmm i wonder if the fittings are the same, they are probably are the same size but just a different amount
Yea I left mine open, I searched for a little while for a resevoir and couldnt find one so I just left it, steers really nice going down the road.
I acutally forgot to remove the extra fluid and when I had my car jacked up I turned the wheel and the fluid shot out and hit my ceiling in the garage, after that I just put a little bit back in and its been fine.

One of the guy's on here, "Padawan" I believe, has a full kit available with reservoir. I've used it, worked well.
I've just been removing the factory hard lines, cutting the flare and removing the threaded sleeve, weld each shut, and just top off the rack, and use the OEM threaded sleeves as plugs.
