How difficult is it to replace a door skin?
I have a huge dent in my driver's side door on my project coupe and I was considering doing a skin instead of replacing the whole door. So how hard is it?
its a pain in the ***. you have to grind off all of the seam sealer around your door and pry it off and once you are done with that you have to weld the new skin back on. your best bet would be to post this on the paint and body forum, they can be more hepful than i can and prolly anyone on this forum
i've done it on a ford ranger... MAJOR pain in the ***. you got to be good at welding. as well as be very careful to take the old part off. it is very time consuming and to be honest if a door is to be had at a reasonable price it would be more worth it to swap the door. and change out the lock.
really though the question is, do you have a welder on hand. will the cost of the door skin + rental of a welder + practice sheet metal so you dont need to purchase a second door skin
; be less than to just find a clean door on here or at a junk yard and just fix the dings and paint it?

dont do it! its a huge pain in the *** and if your gna pay anyone to do it, its more expensive then just a new door.....im replacing the roof skin in my eg and it sucks. if you lived in az i would give you my door hella cheap for like 20 bucks
