what is the should the RPM be for a stage 1, 2, or 3 clutch be idle when not on gas. and what revolution per minute would be its take off point?
anyone with any of those ratios here on H-T?
i've tried to search but no answers.
any help gladly appreciated! *thumbs up*

okay... the deal is that for some reason i cant dump my clutch all the way. it seems as if the idle takes over. i was told there was an unknown 1, 2, or 3 stage clutch when i got the motor. so now im trying to learn how to drive that thing! LOL

The only difference in the different stages of clutches is how much power they can handle, and the driveability (i.e. pressure needed to press the pedal, some "chatter" when disengaging). If you are just replacing a clutch for a factory or slightly modded car I'd go with the mildest clutch, depending on how much power you are planning on making and what you can tolerate for everyday driving is what you need to factor in when buying a clutch.

well.. the thing is that i got a motor that came with a S20 tranny with unknown stage clutch + w/ LSD. when i tried to engage the clutch in first gear or reverse, it feels reallll hard. and my motor seems to shake a bit more. my RPM is at the 400-700 zone when idle. and now when i dump the clutch it seems like it catches on wayyyy too quick.

now i needa learn how to drive that thing. and plus, i took out my dizzy to replace the cap and rotor. is that one problem of why maybe my motor shakes a bit more? how do i adjust that? because if im correct, before my non-vtec swap my car was at idle of 900 rpm. now its like at the 400-700 zone.

There is an idle adjustment screw on the throttle body. When you replaced your dizzy did you mark it and line it up just like it was? If you didn't you changed your ignition timing, which could be effecting your idle.

i didnt mark it down with anything. it was hard to take off my cap so i hard to take the whole shabang off to replace the cap and rotor. i have a z6/ZC manifold/throttle body, the idle adjustment screw should be located near the purge hose right and the map sensor?
