actually you cant cut your stock front springs at all because they are a large wind and not many coils to get low youd have to cut 1/2 the coils out and it would trash your front suspension and probably not even get you out of the driveway.

id imagine if your asking this question your probably dont know too much about the chassis of these cars. its not like lowering an ef,eg or ek civic in 2001 they changed the suspension to a macphearson strut/spring. its more complicated than just cutting these springs. please do this forum a favor and yourself, use the SEARCH button please.

I had eibach on the front of my crx. Cut the back springs had no problems at all? Would't touch the front though. Bad idea

Again your comparing apples to oranges. Not to mention what is the point of replacing the front springs and cutting the back. Save yourself the longterm hassle and $, and just go spend a couples dollars the first time. You get what you pay for when it comes to cars like ours.

It's best not to be cheap. Buy a combo kit, or full coilovers. That way, if something goes wrong with your new setup, at least you have the OEM components that you can temporarily use until you buy replacements. (depending on how long that will take, or course.)

Honda didn't hack the manufacturing, so don't hack the final product.

Then again, it's your car, and if you want suspension by Ghetto-Fab, then go right ahead and cut the coils out of a macpherson strut setup.

are you running stock shocks? It seems like I remember people saying they lowered their civic on stock shocks and burnt the shocks up pretty quick...might be somethin to think about if you're gonna replace the springs may as well spend another 2-3 hundred and replace the shocks so you don't have to go back in there.

But I have all stock suspension and I think it handles and looks great...

end all of end alls on the lowerinf springs on stock shocks!

you CAN run oem shocks w/ lowering springs it has been done and it will last the lowest springs your gonna find is 2" that not that bad. if your car is newer and doesnt have many miles on it more than likely you will have no issues blowing shocks on lowering springs. if your car had 99k or something like that and u put lowering springs more than likely they wont last BUT, they were probably on thier way out anyway.

Go on ebay and type in "01 civic springs" then refine your search by "price: lowest first" to compare prices on springs. STAY AWAY from no-name brand parts. Look for reputable companies like TEIN, Ground Control, Tanabe, H&R, Neuspeed, etc.

Another note, you can save a lot of money by purchasing used springs, given they are reputable company. Good springs dont sag as much as no-name brands, so used is probably your best bet to save a chunk of change.

My '02 Ex had 100k on it when i put lowering springs on stock shocks and my ride is nice. No problems to report. For pricing on springs check out procivic.com or modacar.com, thats where I've found the prices to be pretty good for the parts, plus their in Cali and im in texas so i dont pay shipping ordering from those 2!

well right now I have stock shocks but I have not put on the springs because I am waiting so I can get a little more money to buy some Tokico blues.
