Default Knock sensor

Hi guys need to expertise on this. I just recently had my 96 vtec overhauled. I found out that my knock sensor is broken but I just reinserted this to its slot. now the check engine is appearing. Can anyone tell me if I need to get a new one urgently or I can wait for one week before I change the sensor? Is it a vital part of the car?

Thanks in advance guys.

you can wait as long as you want if you mind looking at the cel light. its not really a vital part of the car. i have been running my ls vtec w/out a knock sensor for like almost a year now.
