Check Enging & Maintenance Req Lights on (2000 Accord 4 cylinder)
We just bought a 2000 accord with 4 cylinder and it had the Check Enging and Maintenance required lights on. Does anyone know how to manually check for code and how to reset the light once it is fixed. Any suggestions will help. Money is tight so I didn't want to spent the unnecessary $$$ at the dealer if I can help it. You all know how much those dealer over charged so please HELP.
Thank you.
If the car appears to be running "ok", the cheapest solution is to pull the fuse on the ECM in the fuse panel on the pass side. This will reset the code/light. If the problem still exists the light will come back on after a few driving cycles. There is no easy way to read the trouble codes unless you have a scan tool. I heard Autozone may read them for free.

Yes, all honda dealers are the spawn of evil in the universe....To reset the Maintenance light, insert the key in the ignition, press and hold the SELECT RESET button on the instrument cluster. With the button held, turn the key to the ON (II) position without starting the engine. Hold it for about 10 seconds, you will see the light go out. With the button still held, start the engine. It is reset.
For the Check Engine light, make sure your gas cap is tight and reset the ecu via pulling the aforementioned fuse or unplug the battery for 10 minutes. If you still get a Check Engine light, try going to autozone or one of the places that will pull the code for free then IM me.
