Thunder Hill track day impression
yesterday was our all day track even at Thunder Hill and all i can say is wow! what an unbelieveable day. i'm a beginner to the track and a first timer on an actual track course, so needless to say i was very nervous and had all kinds of questions running through my mind about my cars ability and the track itself.
here is a list of mods:
97 civic hatch dx
safety:
helmet
sparco gloves
sparco 3pt harness
suspension:
gc's
illuminas
skunk2 front camer kit, specialty rear
srr rear control arms
beaks itr rear sway bar kit
dc lower tie bar
95 gsr's wrapped with azenis 205/50/15's
brakes:
new brembo blanks
porterfield r4s pads
itr mc and brake booster
motul dot 4 fluid
engine:
stock d16y7
cai
short shifter
greddy sp exhaust
so this was the first time that i was really able to test out everything that i had been working on and it passed my test with flying colors. even though i wasn't as fast as some of the guys out there, for me i wanted to see how my car handled and braked. the first couple laps of the first session took a little bit of getting use to, driving with a helmet, choosing a line and holding it, when to brake and downshift into turns, and basically learning the course. after each session i started feeling more comfortable on the track and was able to have fun with it without the feeling of nervousness and uncertainty. gotta give it up to the tires though, always kept me planted to the ground and never broke loose. overall a great learning experience for me and an all around great time
thanks for reading everyone, just wanted to share my excitement and new found
for the track.

...another one takes a hit off the "go-fast crack pipe", just kidding man, glad to hear you got through your first event w/out incident, don't worry about lap times-not just yet at least-the speed will come, with experience and smooth driving. Did you run it w/ the cyclone or the bypass? Again, congratulations, and welcome to the addiction.
vtec65: usual cars were out, hybrid hatches, integs, AE86's, m3's, nissan 240's, r32 skyline, couple porsche's, wrx's, and mustangs
bb6h22a: what do you mean cyclone or bypass? not sure what that is?
there were no lap times or timeslips at this track, unless you brought your own stopwatch
anyways thanks though

did you get a chance to run the whole track? Were there any cones set up to slow evryone down? The cones are a good thing for keeping the speeds down before you enter T1.
You are probably going through withdrawl right about now...
There is another day for more fun on Friday Aug 16th. It's being put on by THill, they call it street school/High perf. driving.

bb6h22a: turn 5 was up the hill, sharp left then downhill into a right turn. that was one of my favorites
itacivic: ya we were able to run the whole track, no cones. on turn 1 i just swung it out to the far right before entering into it, so i could get a smooth line. and yes i think i'm going through withdrawals
