Default 96 accord f22b2

I have a 96 accord f22b2. Ive been doing research and found a f22b1 head. Ive been longing to do a swap to get more power which im hoping the vtec will do for me. Is this a good idea? Will It really be worth the money for the head? Opinions are greatly appreciated.

thanks

For the amount of work, swapping the head, ECU and adding the VTEC wires., IMO it's not worth the 10-15 crank hp. If you want VTEC with power, look into an H22 swap.....or look into boosting your F22B2. Ether way it will cost ya.......

I have to agree with GhostAccord.

You could realize the same results (if not more) with a properly designed exhaust system.
There's more than enough potential in the b2 head if it's approached properly.

So my best bet would be to stick with the b2 and just juice it up??

Here is what I am working on with my B2 head right now.

What a beautifull view for a DSM 450 black top injector....... dual spray pattern hitting the backs of both valves with no obstruction..............

The posibilities are endless if you want to think outside the box....... and for those of you who think these ports are just hogged out...maybe they are & maybe they aren't.....that's for me to know and you to find out.

Cheers

So what exactly are you doing with your b2? I would just like some other examples of worked b2's without spending the money of an engine swap.

check out the link in my sig!

I'm going outside the box and spending a wee bit more on my B2 than it would cost for a plain H swap. Now to build an H the same way I'm building my F would cost more than what I am spending. Now in saying that I am only doing this as a hobby. This build could fall flat on its face.... I'm hoping it doesn't though.

If your looking to go mild you should check out Bisimoto Engeneering. www.bisimoto.com He has a few cams that will give you good gains for a B2 with just an intake, header & exhaust. There are always more upgrades on his site if you have the money......pistons, valvetrain & a full race header.

The saying "You gotta pay to play" is very true.

I'm not sure if those parts will do for you or not. You haven't stated what your goals are? If what your looking for is a nice responsive CD5 with a touch of sport. What you have listed will do. As long as you have a 5sp tranny to back it up. Your not going to beat an H22 Accord but it will be fun to drive on a daily basis.

With these sorts of engine mods you should also look at suspension and brake upgrades to help your car stop and handle a bit better.....

Don't worry about upgrading the ignition. The OEM ignition is good for what you have listed.

Im looking to gain power so that when someone in a similar car comes up Ill be able to take them. My friend has a 04 tiburon v6 that i would like to be able to beat because he always brags.

Save your money and do at 5spd swap..... Your not going to beat a V6 Tib with an auto Accord land yacht. No matter what you do to it. Unless you go boost, even then you would need a 5sp to put down any real power.

Is his Tibby a tuscani/GTP 6sp or an auto 4spd v6? There is no way your going to beat a 6sp tuscani/GTP Tibby with a 4 cyl auto Accord no matter what you do to it. Those bad boys have *****!

Definitely manual 5spd, ceramic puck clutch disc, five (5) finger pressure plate and premium throwout bearing.
The stock clutch is ok for every day grocery getting, but anything other than mild massaging and you'll be replacing it in no time; particularly if you're pumping Nitros!
I'd also suggest picking up a new Clutch Slave and Clutch Master Cylinder for this project.
Odds are that any you might get from a "Parts Queen" will be trash... and why deal with that?
This is supposed to be fun, right?
