Default Finally taking the plunge

So after years of hand detailing and using the Meguiars 3-Step system, I have decided to finally invest in quality products and do the job the right way. So far this is the list of products I am planning on purchasing in the next few days. Are there any products or recommendations you would add or change from my list? I would greatly appreciate your opinions and input.

Meguiars G-110
Foammaster Foam Gun
Grit Guards for my dual buckets
Meguiars Detailing Clay
Assortment of 4" and 5.5" Lake Country pads
Menzerna Super Intensive Polish
Menzerna Super Finish
Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0
Natty's Blue Paste Wax
Meguiars APC+ for carpet and Engine bay
Cobra Waffle pattern Drying Towel
Cobra microfiber towels

Anything else I should definately add to my list?

I would add the new m1-5 and m205 to that order along with some NXT wax . With what you have you don't need NXT wax but it is nice. And ADS has 12 microfiber towels (nice soft towels) for $10. I would probably get the Megs 2.0 Buff Pads instead of LC, but thats your choice.

instead of the Megs G-110 machine, just get the Porter Cable 7424. Its the exact same unit, Megs just re-badged it with their name and product number. On average you can get the Porter Cable for $30-$40 cheaper.

DAJellie- Pardon my ignorance, but im still not good with all the acronyms in the detailing business. What does M1-5 and M205 stand for?

From the research i've been doing on forums, they all say the g110 is a little bit more powerful. They said the meguiars g100 was a rebadged PC, but the g110 is a newer machine with more power.

Sorry I meant to say m105 and m205. The "m" stands for Meguiars and then the numbers just pertain to the part number.

m105- http://www.autodetailingsolutions.net/m10512.html
m205 - http://www.autodetailingsolutions.net/m20512.html

Although this is with a rotary buffer, a professional, and single stage paint this is what can be achieved with the m105/m205 combo.

Trust me...you don't need any more power than the 7424 produces. If they did change the g110 (because it was, as recently as this summer, just a rebadged 7424), the price difference still doesn't pay for itself. The 7424 is a pretty amazing value for a DIY car guy. I have a 7424 and was at a car show where Meguiar's had a booth. I tried out the g110 and said it felt identical to the 7424 and the guy said because it is a g110.

I actually bought my PC 7424 from Amazon yesterday for 112.95 with free shipping!!! , then bought all the pads, flat wrench , counter weight , backing plates , ect.. from autogeek and used the coupon , it saved me money in the end.

edit, and a little more info on the M105 and M205 , i hear that they were recently reformulated to be compatible with Dual Action Orbital buffers , aka PC7424 and the G110 , so you might want to consider that . I personally went with Menzerna Intensive Polish p091e and the Final Polish P085RD , cant wait to get them in and try them out , Ill let yall kno :D

Also are you going to be putting the paste wax on top of the paint sealant? I thought it was one or the other , im not sure tho , im still a newb myself

Thats false information. The G110 has a 20% more powerful motor.

Cornflake- Yes you can add paste wax on top of your sealer. It adds a more "wet" look to the appearance. Can't wait to try out these products either.

Crap, my bad, I'm not good with Megs product numbers because in my experience there are superior products out there. As stated in other replies the G-100 is the identical unit to the 7424.

I am guessing that the G-110 is a rebadged UDM, A.K.A. the Ultimate Detailing Machine.

But in reality the 7424 has more than enough power, it is the industry standard and almost every detailing DIY will use that.

I don't remember where I saw it, but even Meguiar's doesn't recommend the use of speeds 5 or 6 with the g110 (where as the g100 recommended to speed is 5). They actually show the RPM comparison between the different speeds (ie: 3, 4, 5) and compare them from the pc7424/g100 and the g110

Yes...the g110 is probably too powerful for most DIYers, and definitely is too much for a first timer.
