1994 Accord LX 5-speed speedo issues?
speedo gauge not working and mileage not adding. everything else is fine other than cruise control not kicking on either.
1st -I changed the VSS(new one autozone) which did help at all, except it worked like 1 time for 4 miles after i drove it for awhile.
2nd -I pulled the cluster out and replaced the speedometer out, and it worked for about 2 days and now it is messed up again...
3rd- I pulled the cluster out again and replaced the circuit board with another used one. and again didnt seem to change a thing..
4th- I threw the old speed sensor back on and again didnt change a thing. when i did this I blew out the spot where it connects to the tranny with my compressor and also the harness. I figured Id take the new sensor back since it didnt seem to make a difference with the old one back on..
5th I checked the cruise control fuse (didnt know what else to check) the cruise light comes on on the button but I am yet to see the cruise work on the gauge cluster in any of these attempts.
I will note that the speedo does randomly work as Im driving (ever since attempt 2), but most of the time is jumping around and sticking. When it works it reads speeds fine and mileage clicks over, but when its messing up nothing works.
I am not sure whether to try a new speed sensor again or a new cluster, I have a feeling the speed sensor isnt the issue and Im just having cluster issues. The weird thing is that when i replaced the gauge it worked for about 150 miles until it busted, but I wonder if the bad circuit board ruined my "replaced" gauge so when I switched the circuit board the gauge was already bad? Im at a loss, haha
So would you try to go with a new speed sensor next, gauge cluster, or something else such as another sensor (the sensor I replaced was the VSS on the top of the tranny)?

have you traced any wires for any of these sensors? Sounds like u might have a sensor that shorts out while it gets bumped around driving down the road. I would test the wires for resistance and see if you have an open wire somewhere between the sensors and the cluster.
