Default P28 and P72 ecu

I have a 93 civic coupe with the D16y8 engine.the original P28 ecu is burnt up so the car wont run.I got a P72 out of a obd1 integra and the car will now start and run.

The car is missing and backfires under heavy throttle, and the cel is on.I havent had time to get the cel codes yet.

Whats the big difference between the p28 and p72 ecu's? I have a obd2 JDM 96 ITR that has a p72 ecu so I thought they were itr ecu's??

Help plz, this car is starting to really **** me off

the p72 is a GSR computer, that would explain why its running so shity, and for the D16Y8 just by the original ecu, P2P...you can get it for like 30 bucks on ebay......search for it

Buy a chipped P28.

Replaces what you have and opens the door for the future.

p72 is for GSR, its a DOHC VTEC computer, and a p28 is a SOHC VTEC computer. Although either can be chipped and tuned to run either one, on stock maps they are set to run different types of computers. My friend is running a P06 in a GSR and it has the same problems urs has, except he knows about it and cant afford to get a GSR ecu since som1 stole his.

Ebay is just a place to auction stuff off, it's not a bad place to buy from, I buy off there a lot, it's not like ppl are trying to rip ppl off. They have a rating score on how well they do business on there, just like we have trader ratings here on H-T now, you just have to check and make sure you're buying from a good seller...

another reason the car is running badly is because the timing is different on a d16y8 than a d16z6, so the d16y8 in the car with a ecu that is meant for a Gsr is def going to run like crap, cause you have the timing wrong on the ecu and you're getting way too much fuel for the motor now.. get your p72 chipped and put a d16y8 mapping on it.. or sell your p72 and get a chipped p28..
