oem re-build
hey guys whats up,
i have a d16y8 and i'm thinking about doing an oem rebuild. i want to turbo in the future but as of right now i just want an N/A build, now what im wondering is what other d-series parts i can benefit from for the block and head? i want to keep it oem but if i need to buy aftermarket parts i will.
thanks again in advance

the y8 is pretty solid. the comparable engine the z6 has a slightly better head (it flows better). they y8 intake mani is the best d series stock intake you can find. as for the blocks they are pretty much the same, anyway you look at it i would just keep it all y8 parts just b/c it will save you headaches down the road, and the gains you [may] get wont be worth the hassle of converting to OBD1 or messing with the timing to get the head to work with the block.
so i might as well keep it with y8 internals? i was thinkin also about going high compression....thats why i needed the input anybody ever tried the phantom grip?
SOHC N/A is well...not alot of fun.
You should build for boost, but the y8 has oil flow poblems and they tend to spin bearings.
Do your research. Look at doing a FJ / Vitara build (cheap boost setup)
