jdm ek9 cams/build question (UK)
hi there im the proud owner of a jdm ek9 and recently removed the b16b in place for a jdm b18c from the dc2. basically im after more power and camshafts is an obvious choice. my question is that can i not buy a performance enhancing camshaft like sk2's or others that will give me results within the stock rev limit. i always read that these sort of cams need to rev higher to make power but on most builds i have found with an upgraded valvetrain rev to 9000. my engine revs to 8500 stock so it seems alot of money spent on valvesprings and retainers for just 500 rpm. surely i could just raise my limit by 250 rpm safely and meet in the middle. for the money upgrading my valvetrain would i not be better of getting my oem b16b pistons installed with the integra crank and rods giving me a compressio of 12.74. remember here in the uk we have 99 octane at our pumps and if thats to high perhaps a thicker head gasket?.
i wish i lived in america you guys have endless places that can do builds properly and that must keep prices down.
here in the uk its a fortune to get someone who knows what they are doing to work on your car. im a student so trying to get the most bang for my buck as you guys would say
i did try searching around and this compression wasnt recommended but im aware your fuel has a lower octane rating than ours.
any help appreciated thanks.
