i heard 800lb in the rear are good as far as spring rate. What is a good shock to match that spring with? also who makes the springs in different spring rates?

Eibach makes their ERS springs in all sizes and spring rates for use on most any coilover system. They make both 2.25 and 2.5" diameter springs. Ground Controls use 2.5" diameter springs.
As for a shock, not sure what would be able to handle an 800 lb spring. Perhaps Bilstein HD's? Not sure on that, though. You may need to contact Bilstein and ask them about it.

I used KYB AGX's with 800lb ERS springs on my CRX. Worked pretty good, the KYB's lasted for about 2 seasons. Best 60ft I got out of them was a 1.65. It's a very affordable set-up.

Don't some classes require it?
I know the hot rod guys pull the trailing arms and mount a solid axle back there. And even then, they still use shocks and springs, just very very stiff ones.
I think the only time a FWD drag car runs a soft rear suspension is when wheelie bars are used.
Though, I've been out of drag racing for a long, long time.
