auto tranny prob, 95 accord ex
i have a 95 accord ex, and i'm experaincing a change with the way the tranny is supposed to(lock) at highway speed, its been very cold in pa, like almost single digets, its used to feel like it had an extra gear when it locked, but lately i feels like its stuck in a lower gear, its harder on gas, and since i use the turn pike everyday its an issue i need to resolve, plus its not throwing any codes, and the fluid is full. the maunal says to check it with the engine warm and off within 1 min of shutdown, the car has 222,000 miles on it with 78,000 on a used tranny wicth worked great the 12,000 miles i had it, i am iterested in making it a 5 speed if anyone has a tranny and the conversion parts layin around, plus if anyone has any ideas how to make it better then 25mpg, id be gratefull, it just got a new timing belt, plugs, and wires, has an aftermarket intake -w- exhaust, any help here would be awsome, thanks
There's no filter in the tranny, not one that's easily changeable anyway. I would just do a simple drain and fill (not a flush), make sure it's filled to capacity, and definitely use genuine dealre bought Honda ATF.
Yeah it got into the low teens here and my dad was telling me his '95 EX was doing the same thing, his was even slipping a little bit upshifting. Its supposed to hit 50 tomorrow so I'll ask him how it did..

Here's a 'little something to consider:
TSB #97025 -- TORQUE CONVERTER DOES NOT LOCK UP - A FAULTY THERMOSTAT KEEPS THE ENGIONE FROM REACHING NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE IN COLD WEATHER. *TW (NHTSA ID #52393, MARCH 24 1997)
