Completely stock MY2000 S2000. It's been happening since I purchased the car, and people have said theirs does this as well. But what is it? I'm referring to a metallic ringing noise at higher RPMs - somewhere between 7000-9000 RPM. It almost sounds like a loose bolt rattling, but I just don't think that's it - I've checked everything.

Does anyone know what I'm referring to? Anyone else experience this? What is it?

 

I think I know the sound you are talking about. I use happen every now and then but the car is to loud to hear your self think now....

 

Well, at least I'm not the only one hearing it. At least I'm not crazy.

I'm assuming it's nothing serious, as it's happened since I purchased the car, and there's no obvious loss in power. The car dyno'd 203 WHP on a fairly mid-reading dyno. Obviously dyno-ing a car is only worth something if you're basing the numbers off gains from changing parts on the car, but I digress.

 

I was always thinking it sounded like it was coming from the dash...

 

clutch buzz? I'm not really sure, I never had a stock clutch in my S.

 

Clutch buzz is in lower RPM at almost no throttle or no throttle at all.
