i got a b18a in my ef and it is not starting it has spark ,fuel pressure and the battery is good and the main relay its brand new and it ran for about five minutes then i pulled it into the shop and turned it off and it wouldn't start after that

 

does it turn over?

 

it cranks and sounds like it wants to start but then nothing

 

Well what is it doing besides not cranking is it turning over at all? Does it act like it wants to start or is it not hitting a lick? need a little more info to help.

 

did you just put the swap in or has it been running and just started doing this?

 

Any codes? what obd?

 

check ignition timing, cam timing..
Make sure #1 pistons at TDC, look at the cams make sure the "UP" is facing straight up and your rotor is facing #1 (bottom right)....

 

it sounds like it fires once then dies and i bought with the swap and guy i bought it from said the fuel pump was out but the main relay was bad so i replaced it and it started and i drove it around the block then parked it and it won't start after i turned it off

 

the engine IS cranking, not turning over. there is a big difference between the two. the swap is OBD0. im helping him with this and we're thinking its maybe a cam/crank sensor since we have spark and fuel. and no, the rotor would not be facing bottom right. it would be facing bottom left. besides, we checked that already also.

 

yea my bad.. just over looked it and yea.. lol. bottom left.. :-)

 

check everything in the distributor. I had the same problem with my swap, I ended up replacing the coil and the igniter.

 

did you check the ground on your thermostat houseing and does the cel come on when you turn the key to the on position.

 

Check for codes? What do the plugs look like? All grounds good?

 

we're working on it right now. the ECU s flashing a code 1 i belive. it flashes 20 times on and off at the same pace. i checked service information and the code is an oxygen sensor. we know that already because the o2 isnt hooked up. we'll double check grounds.

 

timing belt skipped a few teeth. tried fixing it but belt is just stretched. gonna be gettin new belt and tensioner.
