Clutch Questions/Comments (I have a problem...CLIFFS at bottom!)
I dirve a 2002 Ep3, it's white if you care...and tonight on my way home my clutch went out. I know that jumping to, "ohh the clutch went out" isn't the only thing that could happen. The slave cylinder could not be working, so forth and so on.... I had a SPEC clutch, matched preassure plate, and a lighter flywheel put in my car, to use SPEC was a recomendation by the owner of a reputable shop in town. Needless to say there main gig is domestics, but they do really awesome stuff...so I used them. Now not so awesome things r going on. It was told to me that the clutch was a kevlar stage II clutch. when i got it back it made a funny chatter, almost like a moan untill 1'st was let out and engaged. Upon further inquiries i found out that the throwout bearing had not been replaced. Wtf, I said.
The car continued to function properly untill a couple of days ago when it began to get hard to put it in gear unless I put the pedal to the floor with a full motion, ie: from starting point to as far down as the clutch will go and then it was like normal. That is to get it to go in gear. 1'st has been difficult ever since the problem began a couple days ago. Tonight whilst I was pulling up to a stop sign it killed out and was VERY difficult to get outta 2'nd gear. i rolled it down the hill and pulled off the road into a small gravel area. You can pt it in gear if its off and crank it with gas and get it to go, but i didnt do any of that. I just sat there assuming that i already know whats wrong. Ive had a clutch go out in a CRX before. same type of feeling happened today.
My question is, would ACT or EXCEDY be a better choice? Who makes a clutch that is reputable for spirited daily driving and nothing crazy? And what r some good websites to buy a clutch from that r going to send me the correct stuff the first time? With quality customer service?
CLIFFS:
1. I think my clutch went out...
2. Who has an aftermarket clutch about stage 1 or 2 that likes what they without bad chatter or random noises or any complaints at all!
3. What r some reputable websites to buy from?
4. I hope my grammatical skills arent that bad and we can look past that and help me get some parts that arent bush league bullsh*t!
5. Lend your personal endeavors, good or bad, about clutches.
6. Thanks for reading!

aftermarket (non-oem replacement) clutch isn't worth it unless you're putting down more power. if you are, how much more power are you putting down compared to stock?
i like my excedy, a stage one will do fine, i have an act 6 puck racing clutch in my prelude n it really sucks driveing in stop n go traffic, i do not recommend them haha
Is Competition Clutch a company or a level of clutch made by exceedy or someone else? If the clutch goes out does the pressure plate have to be replaced with it? And where would i buy it from, there website? What company has been around longer with more "proof for the pudding" if you will.... ACT, Exceedy, Competition Clutches? And what is a good drivabilty level for a DD? thanks for the replies!
competition is a brand of clutch. If you lurk around the club rsx site competition is the choice of most all. I bought mine off their store.
