so when I got my car a few months ago, the odometer read 106,XXX and the trip was at 089. I went to reset the trip, and now neither of them work. The speedo works just fine though. any ideas what could be causeing my odometer woes??

 

Try resetting it again (several times), and let the button 'pop' back out when you do so.
Sometimes the bridging gear doesn't reset properly and you loose the physical connection between the speedo's stepper motor and the odometer.
