Ok, so I have never gotten a paint job before but I want to repaint my car, initially, I wanted a different color, but, I heard it would be ugly seeing as how my engine bay, door jams, interior (if ever gutted) would all be different, so I though it might be easier to get it the same color (G-82P I believe?).

Here are my concerns and questions about taking it to a shop that I do not trust the shop answering.

1. What am I, as the owner of the car, responsible for doing before I take it to the shop?

2. How can I be sure that my car will be painted right? (Do I need to point out what I need painted and what not? "I want only everything painted from factory repainted" etc...)

3. Who can I trust? (Renowned shops etc..)

4. Color, how can I know that I will be getting what I'm looking for, can I just give them a paint code and let them have at it?

5.What if I do decide to go with another color, and I want it done right, what then?

6. Longetivity, # of coats, Clear coat, that good stuff. How can I know that they did a long lasting job. Do I need to specify how many coats I want and/or Clear coat(s) (Im completely nub at this)

7. Body Repair, I have small dents and trunk holes from previous wing, can I ask to get those filled in or is that only specific shops?

8.I'm sure I will think of more, but I cant right now as its 1:30am. But from those who have great experience with paint shops I would greatly appreciate sharing your stories, good, and bad, and any advice you could give to the helpless.
