Default HID on 97 accord.

I have almost all stock lights currently on my 97 SE Accord. All clear/white lens in front. I am looking to install an HID kit. Would it be best to purchase a different type of headlight? Or just go ahead and install the HID kit onto my stock headlight.

It may be problamatic either way you go.
If you put HID's in the OEM headlamp capsules, you'll end up with glare problems. (No defined cut-off)
Even if you go with the only DOT approved projector set (TYC), even they don't suggest it.
Some have taken to retrofit projectors to the OEM headlamps, but I'm not very fuzzy (enthused) over them.
Best thing to do is try to find some one in your local area that's done it, so that you can evaluate it for yourself.

It's hard to aim the headlight on the 5th gen. Unless your car is lowered. But anyways, not recommended. It's going to look like you are high-beaming someone. It is best to stay away, just get some Silverstars.

ive had hid in regular housings as well as tsx retro with hid...

i highly recomend a retrofit if you do want to go hid, but it isnt necessary.

the people who say it will blind on coming are the people who havent ever toyed with hid.

get an oem kit, such as hella for kit longevity and quality

I have toyed with it. And own a pnp kit for my projector fog lights.

It will blind oncoming traffic in a reflector housing, the glare is absolutely ridiculous. Casper shields help, but do not eliminate the problem.
