well i think the b18c's have secondaries? If so, the b16 doesnt have that so if you put the b16 intake on it the p72 wouldnt find them so you would have a cel. That all i can think of? Cant you just put your b18 manifold on the b16, i think you can?

no, you won't gain power. in fact you'll probably lose some. the b16 head flows a little better, but your compression will drop by about .3, and that will lose more power than the little bit of flow difference. and you wont get a cel without the secondaries, but the maps in the p72 computer are terrible without the secondaries.

The flow between the two heads is negligible, at best. It's best to just say they flow pretty much the same. There is no clear "better" head, unless you're basing it on IM selection.

its called the poor mans type-R.

its for poor people such as i, who cant spend 5 grand on an engine, b16 head on a gs-r block loses compression, but gains better flow, harder valve springs, lighter valves, more aggressive cams and a better flowing not-retarded looking intake manifold.

and rumor has it that they haul *** just like a type r.

Again, the B16 head has NO CLEAR ADVANTAGE over the GSR head. Period. The flow difference is NEGLIGIBLE at best.

and the loss of compression makes the gsr head the better option. i have run a few different setups, and the simplest, most effective one seems to be gsr with sk2 manifold and a p30 ecu.

A poor mans type r is a gsr block, b16 head AND type R pistons to make up for the compression loss. Just putting a b16 head on a GSR block will lose power...

ive been thinking of doing a similar setup. gsr block, ls crank, eagle rods, ctr or itr pistons and cams, adjustable cam gears, valves, springs, etc... in a b16head mated to a b16 tranny. what do u guys think of this setup?

What the hell are you thinking? Type-r head has a mild hand port from the factory where the throats have been opened up and the block has higher compression. Just putting a B16A head on a GSR block isnt going to "haul ***" lol

a friend of mines did the same set up but with a type-r head (little difference but identical to a b16) and ran like 13.4 or something around there. i dont know the dynos though.

People say that because the B16 and ITR use the same casting.

well the b16 head does have a better flow, there is a form showing this somewhere on here.. but the b16 doesn't have stronger springs.. I know a guy here who has done this and the car doesn't run that great because he didn't put the pistons in it like he was supposed to.. but the car still runs stong just not like it's supposed to...

I've seen the comparison, it's more then likely in the FAQ. But, where the B16 doesn't flow so well, the GSR does, and vice versa.

^^^ yeah that's true... i like the gsr head because of the springs and more aggressive cams..
