ABS light is on.
First off, what is ABS? I know it stands for Anti-Lock Brake System, but I don't know what it means.
My ABS light just came on recently. The previous owner had a cone filter on the stock intake pipe which was resting on one of the ABS lines. I noticed over time, the vibration kind of rubbed at that one lines. Could this be the problem? Any input is appreciated!

no its proly a sensor. get ur system scaned for codes that will help you pin point the problem.
ABS keeps the brakes from locking up the tires causing the car to slide. Since a car slows faster when the tires have full traction and not sliding this allows the driver to make a quick at a moments notice without having to manipulate the brake pedal. Each wheel has a sensor that sends a message back to ur abs computer (ther are a few other sensors also) that tells it if the wheel is locking up , if you stomp the brakes and ur front tire starts to lock up the sensor tells the computer and the computer limits braking force to that wheel till it regains traction. This all happens in fractions of a second. The computer limiting braking casues the "pulsing" of the pedal. If the abs computer detects an bad sensor it shuts the system down and returns ur car to non abs (ie. U stomp the brakes ther nothing to keep u from sliding) TIll the sensor is fixed. If the abs kept running while it could not detect a wheels status this could be disaterous for the driver causeing the car to spin out if speeds were high enough.
