Max springrate for stock shocks

Max springrate for stock shocks
Just wondering, anyone using stiffer front springs(like the Comptech kit) on their ITR? How high can you go with the stock shocks?
Main reason I'm asking is I had bought a set of ITR shocks, and they put H&R Civic springs and one of the shocks was blown. I don't know if it being to stiff caused it though.
