Will stock valves hold up?
i need help. i have a set of Blox stage 2 cams with blox dual springs titanuim retainer.. i wanted to in stall them on my stock gsr... i know i will be over camed but what i wanted to know if the stock valves will hold the abuse? im planning to take it 9000.... it will be tunned... the bottom end is good, high and even compression......( why over cam a stock motor? im tired of seeing them sit in my garage and i kant sell them they have a lil less then 300 miles.... so might as well and use them.) thanks in advance..
should be find.. i seen stock heads do 9,000rpm all day long...would recommend up grade valves, would be less work at the end. scents your going to install springs and retainers, why not install stronger new valves too...
i had manely (i think i spelled it wrong) flat top valves but i kinda broke 2 and bent 2 lol... my timming belt slipped.... thats wat my old gsr head looked like...=(
As long as you've upgraded the spring and retainers, the stock valves should be fine. If you're building a high revving NA car, running lighter valves isn't a bad idea. It makes less work for the valvesprings when you run lighter valves; however, with your goal of hitting 9k rpm, the stockers should work just fine...
