So i was getting ready to back out of my driveway and i noticed the battery light wouldnt go out, so i shut the car off and un hooked the battery and checked fuses and found one of the fuses under the hood fuse box was blown , but i dont know which one it is because i dont have the diagram for the fuse box. the fuse that was blown was a 15amp> if you were standing over the passenger fender lookin at the fuse box, its the fuse all the way on the left second from the top. I believe the row has like five fuses in it......anyway i replaced it with a 30amp because thats all i had and when i reconnected the battery without the keys in the ignition, everything turned on like i put the key into the accesory postion but the keys were in my pocket WTF. The car even runs without any key in the ignition.
So i pull the fuse back out and the problem goes away and everything goes back to normal, but the battery light stays on when the car is running. I need to know what fuse that is that blew so i know what it goes to. any idea why the power stays on when i connect the battery with the fuse in?
does anybody have a pic of the fuse box diagram for under the hood?

This is the one under the hood:

Under the dash:
This is an '88 model:

This was from a 90-91 model:

There is a slight difference between the two..

thanks guys, yea i found the diagrams.
I cant check to see if its the alternator because when the car is running and i disconnect the battery the car dies and i lose all power to the car.
I dont understand how all the dash lights can come on and the car can run with no key in the ignition?????

Your alternator has failed or a connection/fuse has failed.

You just proved the alternator is bad by that test. The alternator is the primary power source when the car is running, the battery for starting only, you should be able to remove the battery and the vehicle will run.

that doesnt explain why the car runs with no key in the ignition.
No, it does not, it does tell me you have a charging issue thou. It seems strange you are having two problems surface at the same time, makes me think they are connected. How does the key cylinder feel when turned?

it almost seems like the ignition is stuck in the auxiliary position even with the key off. How would i check to see if that is the poblem?
what do you mean how does it feel? the elctrical part of the ignition switch is brand new from honda, about 6months old, because i had a problem with the car not staying running unless i held the key in the auxiliary position....

imho your ignition tumbler just went out.
older chevy's do that all the time where you can even pull your key out in the on position and keep driving it.
see if you can wiggle your key around in the ignition tumbler for n e play wise.

the tumbler seems fine. there is no play in it, it clicks when you turn it to each position in the ignition.........also the other problem is fixed. It turned out to be a bad alternator.
