Trunk Lid
Ok, so I was just curious about the 8th gen civic's trunk lids. I notice my 06 Si does not have a key hole in the trunk lid, but some other models do.
The question is:
What models do and do not have the keyhole?
The question is:

I thought Si's produced before the 08 model line had key sockets in the trunk. For sedans I know 07's do, and 08's don't.
My 08 SI Sedan does not have a key hole in the trunk. I did not come with a inner trunk lid lining, nor trunk rail covers. I bought some for a 2006 EX Sedan and installed them. But, I do not want a key hole that bad.
About $90 and here are the part numbers.
This is over simplified, but the first time I tried to order stuff, I wasn't getting it into my CART.
First I went to www.thehondapartsstore.com to get part numbers.
note..these items are not listed if you select any SI model and items #30 and #31 require you to drill a hole in the underside of the trunk rail, inorder to push in the plastic clip (no big deal).
At METHOD BY MODEL window I entered Civic (search), 2006, EX, Sedan ,
AT the LIST ALL I selected (search)
then I scrolled to Rear Tray Trunk Lining
I wrote down the part number for item:
#19 90671-S0D-003ZK 4 ea I noted the prices
#24 91507-SH3-003 4 ea
#14 84620-SNE-A01ZA 1 ea
I clicked back in the upper left corner, then I scrolled to Trunk Lid
#30 74895-SNA-000ZA 1 ea I noted the prices
#31 74896-SNA-000ZA 1 ea
#36 90667-SNA-000 4 ea
Then I went to www.bernardiparts.com I selected Honda Parts at the top,(not the side) and I entered the part numbers (not case sensitive), using the dashes. You then have to scroll to see the price and put the items in your cart.
I found that Bernardi Parts was cheaper. I noticed that item #14 had two part numbers and I have listed the one that I bought.
I called Erik at Bernardi and asked what the difference was, and he said depending on where you car was built, USA or somewhere else.
While you are paying for shipping, you might consider another clumsy item for the trunk. A Trunk Tray part # 08U45-SNA-100 for $77.10
By itself, it ships for about $15 but if you include it with that item #14 which is also clumsy, they will ship together.

that's what i thought too. you don't need a keyhole on the trunk when you have a trunk popper on the key though, so it'd make sense for none of them to have it.

I did not see how anything could damage the lock release mechanism, located in the trunk lid. So either your key fob (popper) or the lever, next to the driver's seat, should release the trunk lid.
I did notice the unnprotected, tiny green plastic connector on the end of the back seat release cables. A large box or live body moving around (installing a speaker) in the trunk could break the green plastic and prevent the back seat from folding down.
