Default need h-t's advice on tough decision....possible trading an eg for a da

ok so i have a '93 cx hatch with a d16z6, si tranny, aem v2, off brand headers, msd plug wires, si wheels, rs*r springs, front upper strut bar, rear upper strut bar, integra ls seats and an ex cluster.

so im pretty happy with my hatch...since i have had it, it has moved forward starting with parts and the swap and stuff like that...but lately it has started to just stay parked and not do a whole lot...the sideskirts have flown off, it will need a clutch soon, needs water pump, runs rich as hell (like i think prolly about 20 mpg out of a stock single cam) and smells like gas constantly, radio needs to be rewired, the carpet is ripping around places, stock shocks have blown out, it has a green hatch and a black hood so it needs to be painted, and overall isnt what it should be and i go to school and work part time and dont really have time to work on it or have the money to fix it. my plans for it were to take it to my friends house and park it in his garage (i dont have one) and completely strip it...motor out, strip the interior out, paint the whole thing including engine bay, full interior under carpet, and full body probably the itr black and replace the clutch, water pump, timing belt and all that good stuff, put new replacement carpet in it and replace all the stuff wrong with it.

now...this guy wants to trade me a da9 teg with the ls in it, ls meshies, coilovers, skunk2 front upper control arms, its maroon with a black hood, black hatch and the roof is painted black, the motor runs really good and you could almost eat off of it its so clean. the 2nd gear used to be messed up but he put a brand new 2nd gear in it and rebuilt the entire tranny and put a new clutch in it. it rides good, sounds good, runs good, its overall solid minus some of the interior and paint. there are some screw holes in the interior that shouldnt be there so i would have to replace some of that and if i was to get it i would paint it silver and slam it on those coilovers. i will get some pics a lil later and you guys can give me your input.

now...i need to know what you guys think i should do. should i trade or keep my hatch? i love my hatch and at first only wanted to get rid of it in order to get a dc teg...but i drove this thing and it runs great. one of the biggest reasons i am considering this is all the rust that is on the hatch which i would have to fix and i dont have the tools or the money to pay someone to fix.

so what would you guys do if it was you? thanks guys...i need some help and some other opinions on it.

I would have to see pictures of the DA.

But honestly man... you say you have no time or money to fix the hatch but you planned on rebuilding it from the ground up and repainting everything.... what? You know that **** costs money , right? Even if you do 100% of the work yourself.

Anyways, if this DA really does run that flawlessly and the body isn't too rough I would say make the trade. I don't even think you should worry about slamming it on coilovers and painting it since you're broke and have no time.

So yeah, trade for the DA and make it to school/work and save money till you can afford a real paintjob and ****.

I say make the trade... It seems more like it would suit your needs better.

Is the Civic your daily driver or a project car? If it is your only car and daily I would say go for the trade...if you have another relaible car to drive, maybe think about keeping the Civic and keep working on it.

I have owned both cars, and what everything boils down to is, which one do you like better as far as styling goes...

it seems like the obvious better deal is the teg, aside from having all these power options the the eg lacks, it also has a stronger engine, better suspension, and better brakes.
old school japanese styling is not for everyone, which is partially the reason the da9 integra was never as popular as any of the civics. (IMO)

civic on the other hand has timeless styling that is probably THE most popular honda chasis ever(could be a good or bad thing), it is light and can be very nimble depending on the amount of cash invested. unlimited amounts of aftermarket support and oe swapable parts, (which can also be said about the integra)

i had an EF and made the switch to a DA, and my EF had more room (alot more in the back seats) compared to the DA.. lol, I say make the trade.. the EG is wayyy too common and DAs are becoming rarer by the moment..

ok....just to clarify...lol im not COMPLETELY broke. im talkin about broke as far as complete rebuild goes. i work and make a pretty decent paycheck but i cant afford buyin a shitload of parts all at once...but a little at a time and i can do it. and sorry i didnt clear this up either...i also have an ej8 that gets like 37-40 mpgs that i dd, so the hatch is a project.

i went and looked at it again today and the body is not as straight as i thought, lol i did look at this thing at like midnight last night so i couldnt really see. and the guy is really iffy about gettin rid of it. at first he wanted to trade for my ej, which is a big hell no. (i might ***** the coupe in a sec lol) i love my coupe and it is a good car as far as goin on dates with your woman and has all the options and such. anyway, it moved from ej8 to eh2, wich he wanted to trade even...i didnt wanna get rid of the hatch so i said nah im not interested. then he wants to trade the hatch for the da9 and some money, he doesnt work so it wouldnt be alot at all. then i told him i was goin to keep the hatch and he offered me the da9 and a lumina z34 even for the hatch. he basically begged me to trade so im thinkin there is something kinda off about this thing.

also, i looked through the da squad thread and im sorry to say that i couldnt get into some of the das in there...there were some that were completely badass!!! and i know some people posted on this thread have da's. lol and i like them but i told myself if i get rid of the lil hatchy would be to get a dc teg...until i found this thing. its nice but i just decided to keepy my hatch cuz it has more potential in my eyes than the da does. parts for the da are hard to find, parts like bumpers and spoilers and stuff like that which i like. i appreciate all the input and you guys can keep goin just in case i change my mind. lol

If you have a DD then keep the hatch.

EG > DA.
