Hey all. This is my first post and I will be the first to admit, I know very little about cars/engines, but I'm learning quickly.

So here's my question.

I have a 98 Accord LX and I was wondering how/what/if any data could be read out using the data port on the driver side near the hood release latch.

If I was to obtain a computer (which I don't know what do get, or where to start) what sort of data would this connection provide me about the engine?

Yes, a fairly open ended question with probably many many answers.

Alright so a majority of my post I answered myself after a few minutes of searching.

So here's my next question.

Does anyone here recommend a particular scanner make/model? I was thinking of getting one cheap off of eBay for fun.
