Default Another "heat" thread...

Hey guys! I'm stumped on this one. I searched but found no one with my exact problem. A friend of mine has a 1997 Honda Accord DX. When she first bought the car there was absolutely no heat! So I tried a few things. I installed a new t-stat, flushed the heater core out, and replaced the coolant temp. sensor. Now if I drive the car for a while with my heat off and then turn it on, I get amazing heat, but after about a minute or so it fades away and blows air thats not really cold, but not even close to being hot either, can someone help me???

Also! Something else I forgot to mention was that the **** won't completely turn over to the heat, it will go almost the whole way over and the stop, not sure if that is causing any of my problems of not

i had this exact problem.

its the ****, the plastic thing is broken.
do this, get in he car, pull back on the **** exactly back towards the back of the car.

look at the back and you wil see a crack on the ****, grab a new one. i grabbed one from my parts car,but im sure you can pull one off a junkyard for cheap.

while you'r back there inspect the heater line, it might have blisteredin the line, making it hard to pull. happend to my old bikes throttle cable

After the easy **** check make sure the water valve is opening the whole way and that the cables aren't binding behind the dash/ under the hood.

Ross has it right, I just had this problem, the valve is controlled by the cable and somtimes they bind or the quadrants they run on get damaged over time. You could always just manually adjust the valve under the hood until you can get to the parts for under the dash.

I had the same problem... my friend replaced the thermostat for me and it sorta fixed it but was told that was suppose to sit at watch to see if any air bubbles come up through the coolant, wait 30 mins and watch and that could fix it.... mine works great now.
