Need some SERIOUS help with my BRAKES?
i just got new brakes about 2 weeks ago, powerslot rotors and semi-metalic brake pads, i forget the brand of pads but they were'nt cheap. they were squealin ,all the time even when i dotn hit the brakes. and it was pissin me off cuz it didnt stop like it was supposed to. i looked at my brakes today and on the inside side of the rotor it was.... i dont know how to explain it but there was a line around like half of it... i guess kind of like when there warped... thats the best i can explain it. i cleaned the pads off and the rotors and sanded the pads a little. i put them back on and they still sqeal. could i need to cut the rotros???????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????? please help its gettin me heated
Put you stock rotors on and see if your still haveing the problem. If you still haveing the problem put on the powerslot rotors and change the pads.
kinda hard to say w/o knowing exactly what pads you got, but it sounds like you got some pretty aggressive pads. If you still have the shims on there, try putting a small dab of antiseize or something similar between the shim and the backing plate. That may help subside the squeaking a little bit. Otherwise, you'll have to go w/ a diff set of pads.

Sounds like some aggressive pads, but while you are at it, dump those piece of **** powerslots.. brembo/autozone blanks and OEM pads is all you'll ever need on the street.

Stock brakes are

where exactly are the shims, what do they look like anyone got a pic? its only happenin on the driverside so it cant be the rotor/pad combo or anything to do with how aggressive the pads are
Agressive pads (which can be expensive) have different materials in them than regular street pads. Since there is nothing in the caliper that "pulls" the pad away from the rotor when the brakes aren't pressed, and since the pads may have a higher content of metalic material, they can sometimes squeak/squeal while cruising down the road in a straight line.
Does the sound go away when you apply light pressure to the brakes? Does it change pitch when you make a left turn versus a right turn?
As for the markings, it could simply be the way that the pad is in contact with the new rotors as they start to show wear.
Or, you could have a small pebble jammed between the pad and the rotor that is causing the mark, and the sound, in which case: go fix it right now!
