Default emissions removal

well, i don't live in California and there are no emissions in my state.

my questions would be
-removal of emissions will gain hp? hurt hp? gain gas mileage? loose gas mileage?
-what exactly will happen if i do remove the emissions nonsense from my car? (A.K.A. will it throw a check engine light or anything?

-all on a stockish d15b2, just trying to start cleaning out my engine bay cause it looks like garbage will all of that crap in there, motor swap in the near future

not a lot of gains to be had on the d15b2

depending what you do on emissions depends on the code -

hollow out your cat - switch to a straight pipe - no codes - run open header - no codes

you could gain hp and gas mileage it just depends what you do - what shape your motor and care are in etc.

only remove what's necessary - I would just drop half the stuff in the engine bay all exhaust -

everything has a purpose - but you have to know what that purpose is and if you don't need it
