exhaust question
I just ordered my DC JDM 4-1 SS header and a 2.5" test pipe..ive got 2.5inch exhaust piping on my car right now...and a tanabe muffler..would i be dumb to put the stock muffler on..like would i loose a lot of airflow or just alittle..i want a more sleeper look plus a little quieter cause its gonna scream with no cat...let me know what you think
I don't think you'll have too much of a power loss, maybe 1-2hp.
You could look for a twin loop design muffler to replace the tanabe if you're concerned about it though.

yeah, but police care more about loud exhausts than a couple little stickers, generally.. which is what i need to avoid..
i'm probably going to do a similar thing.. i have my JDM 4-1 already.. getting the carsound cat.. either taking the restrictions out of my b-pipe or ordering one and using my stock exhaust can..

of course you are losing some power... the main restriction is the muffler! this is why many people keep the stock piping and throw on an aftermarket muffler. if you feel the quiet noise and stock looks are worth the loss in power, then keep do it. hell, a lot of guys take off their intake resonators so that its louder, despite the big loss in power.

Put a baffle in the tip like everyone in Japan. That way when you go to the track, just unscrew the bolt. If you want the sleeper look, replace the Tanabe finisher with a 2.5" finisher.
