Default Camshaft Tuning

I just wanted to put a feeler out.

I would like to know how many of you would be interested in learning about camshaft tuning?

The class will be offered in video format. You will go to the EFI University website and order the class and download it on to your hard drive. Then watch the video/class at your leisure.

The class will include the following topics:

Understanding the Internal Combustion Process
Camshaft Terminology
Theory and Understanding of Camshaft Operation
Picking the Proper Camshaft
Common Camshaft Profiles
Introduction to Emissions
Common Emission Terminology
Multigas Analysis
PID Terminology
PID Control Tuning
Proper Variable Valve/Cam Phasing Tuning Techniques
On the Dyno with a Multigas Analyzer
You will learn about the effects of changing the camshafts phasing and its effect on Torque Output, Emissions, A/F mixtures and Fuel Economy

The Instructors for the class will be myself and Mr. Ben Strader.

Who would be interested in this class?

You might want to add a part on how to properly degree a camshaft. Including centerlines, p2v, v2v and how moving the cam gear changes the torque curve + what it would require in terms of tuning the ecu.

Yes this would be of interest to me.

Very good, thanks for your input.

A basic overview of installed centerlines, p2v along with torque output, emissions, A/F mixtures, gas analysis, and EGTs while properly tuning the camshafts phase via the ECU will all be discussed/shown.

Keep a look out for it, thanks again!

The final price has not been set yet, but it will be very affordable. You will not have to book a flight, rental car, or a hotel room. So, doing these classes online just makes more economical sense these days.

Sorry, the video will only be allowed to be registered to one computer.

Thanks for the input!

Ben is an excellent teacher, the motec course was fantastic. I have no doubt this will be worth what ever you charge if not more.

Proportional Integral Derivative control? Are you also going to discuss the iVTEC's closed loop feedback system?

The core curriculum revolves around understanding camshafts and how changing the camshaft(s) phasing affects the engines operation. We are using a couple of different systems to show the effect of changing the camshaft(s) phasing via ECU control while on the dyno. We are incorporating video of the vehicles on the dyno along with simultaneously showing the Laptop and Dyno screens via screen capturing software. You will find that if you fully understand control via the ECU, that understanding cam gear tuning will fall directly in line with our material.

Thanks for the question!

So this would be like a dvd/video? What kind of feedback or how would instructional questions if any be answered? Through a forum, email, instant messaging or direct contact through webcam system? Or is this just kind of a diy yourself at home class feature?

I can kinda see what the material would contain and how it would be presented. Just wondering what kind of atmosphere the setting would be.

Otherwise sounds like a very interesting idea. And I have been trying to get down to EFI101 if I can find 2 days that I am scheduled off when its close.

Keep up the good work.
