"Uh, yeah... that would be the car owner that towed the car home..."

He needed to know because he was one of the 2 guys I almost decapitated because they had their heads stuck up under the cover looking at the damage while I was trying to leave (I almost didn't see them - luckily I did). I waited like 4 minutes for them to move on but they didn't so I got out and said:
"Could you please get out from under my car so I can pull out?"
I was not using a very pleasant tone. They moved and I said thank you and walked away. As I was getting back into the truck one said "sorry about your car" and the other said "you could try being a little nicer". I ignored both of them. He probably wants to know who I am so he can give me a good talking to. One of the guys was the d00d who was wearing a shirt/tie and shorts at the awards presentation and the other I had never seen before.
Either way I don't really care if I was rude to them. The car was covered for a reason and that reason wasn't so they had some shade while they were surveying the damage . . .

FYI...
The average of the top 5 Ai and AIX times from Saturday's race was only 2.3 seconds faster than the average of the top 5 Honda Challenge times.
Remember that AI and AIX are extremely liberally ruled compared to the Honda Challenge and many of those cars are sporting 400 horsepower or more.
So... not too bad Honda guys

These are also the same people who have the right to slow up traffic so they can slow down and investigate an accident along the interstate.
it seems almost rude and inconsiderate to me, I knew where your car was the whole weekend and made no attempt to stick my nose under the tarp out of respect, seeing how upset you were on friday made me realize it was none of my business
some people are intrigued by that type of thing also and don't mean to disrespect, they just need to see it for a better explanation of what happened
then there are those who are just down right nosy and blatently disrespectful, who would probably be 10 times as rude if they were in your shoes
frankly you went easier than I would have on them, regardless of who they are

OK, I know we can run with the AI cars, thats not a problem, but the top AIX cars would kill us! David Hunt just rocks with that car! It would be fun to race the back AIX cars though..
I think the times will be quite closer at summit, yes, it has a long straight, but we can carry a lot of speed out of T10, and brake much later for T1.. Our honda's will rock threw 3-10 at summit.. We just need to block from 10-3 =~)

The problem is that they would probably take us on the start because of raw horsepower, and then hold us up in the turns, destroying our advantage over them. It's very hard to get a pass in the carousel, so most likely they would win, even if we can turn faster lap times. I'm up for the fight though!!!!

we will just make a 4 wide road block down the main straight... I really dont' think it will be to much a difference.. As long as its rolling start.. Standing, we would get murdered!

Depends on the Car, Lester L. who runs AIX in a black stang who qualifed on the pole satuarday @ CMP is pushing like 600 whp he has a paxton supercharge and turns some fast times. I think it would be a better race as AI vs H-C... leave AIX out.
HELL! If you are going to leave AIX out... then it would only be fair to drop the fastest H1-H3 classes... why don't you use a PAX score or some other screwy method that makes the slower (4cyl) drivers feel better
I think I hear Col. Sanders approaching... or is that Jim Perdue?

Guys - I'm glad this fodder is friendly. This race would be a ton of fun.
As for the guy who commented on Drew's unfortunate incident. His name is Brian Tone. Brian is one of the nicest people on the face of the planet - a true gentleman and a true competitor. I don't believe his question was said out of malice or to spark a gossip thread. When my car was wrecked at Summit, he and his father were the first people to start ripping my car apart to survey the damage. After it was evident that racers tape would not allow me to race later that day, they (along with 10 other AI competitors) helped me push my car onto the trailer for it wouldn't move on it's own locomotion. They did this despite having to prep their OWN cars for the race later that day. Brian and his father also helped me diagnose the cause of my brake failure (which I later verified) and offered to help in anyway that they could. When I think of the help they provided, I am thankful to be running in AI/AIX with such a high class person like Brian.
Brian was not one of the individuals peeping under your cover. The person who was peeping under your cover was the same guy that questioned me as to why I didn't downshift for it would have stopped me from hitting the trees. He did this RIGHT after I emerged from James Hoover's trailer, after collecting myself for I was shaking (he neglected the fact that at the same time, downshifting would perhaps upset my car at 140mph and spin me into one of those lovely walls... but I digress). I do not agree with him peeping under your cover while you were trying to leave. I do not agree with him telling me what I SHOULD have done in an emergency situation - he wasn't in the drivers seat so he has no ground to stand on. I walked away, therefore, I did the right thing. Enough about that...
Where some want to hide their misfortune (like I stated in the other thread on cc.com, that's your right Drew and not mine to argue - I'm not calling you out and think that is fine. PLEASE don't take offense because none is intended), others don't mind sharing. I for one believe that what happened to myself and Drew could happen to any of us at anytime. If we can learn from each other's misfortune and prevent it from happening to others, than why not? That doesn't mean that someone else's misfortune needs to be FLAUNTED though. That I am strictly opposed to.
My point... Brian Tone is a good guy. He most likely wasn't trying to be a "nosy journalist." More so, I view accidents as the best information for making a car safer. i.e. I need to get rid of my bolt in cage and add NASCAR door bars for if I hit a tree there, the single bolt-in door bar won't suffice. I think Brian was trying to find out the same - how to make himself safer.
Sorry Drew - I didn't mean to spotlight you as I know you were as upset as I was when I wrecked my car. I just didn't want people thinking Tone was a piece of chit. He is the antithesis of that.
BTW - for anyone that wants to NOT suffer the same fate that I did, go here to learn how to properly secure stainless brake lines:
