Default Jdm vs Usdm Ignition Switch

I purchased a 98 DC jdm steering colum and it came complete.. and now its time to try to start my car.. and I was told from another source that It is my ignition that is causing the no start.. just before i go out and buy another ignition switch could someone clarify this.. greatly apperciated

its for a 98 itr if that makes a difference..

also if isnt compatiable.. which years and models would work?

i performed the same swap and it worked fine.. used just the switch portion itself along with the outer casing (put the USDM key cylinder in).
