i recently bought my lude about 2 months ago it came with a stock jdm h22a non type S but it will do. anyways i was woundering if i can run a stock obd2 p72 ecu with out any problems... things like smog, vtec ex....... will all the fuels maps be the same as the stock 98 prelude ecu. i didnt want to go through the hassel of getting new keys ignition switch and all that stuff that it really needs to run stock. ive read on a couple of forms that its possiable but i just want to make sure that its not going to blow up in my face or cause any harm to my car. im just tired to pressing a lil button that i riged up for vtec.also i was woundering if i can smog with it either.... thanks alot!!!!!!!!!!

 

no, you need to get it chipped and tuned.

 

is it possible to chip and tune the obd2 version of the p72 and still pass smog?

 

Chipping ecu do not pass inspection here in MA because the computer can not read when a jumper harness is used and a obd1 is used.....Not sure how your state applies

 

im in CA i think its the same over here too. i was thinking if i can put an obd2 p72 in my 98 prelude and the car is bone stock. i just dont like using a single came ecu. but will that obd2 p72 ecu work with no problems though... thats what im woundering i dont want to buy another motor.
