Fuel gauge not working propoerly...
Hi all! I have a little problem... Ive done a 04-05 Cluster swap in my 01 Civic. After ive did the swap, my gaz gauge stop working properly.... Ive reput my old cluster, and it was doing the same thing. SO , Ive bought an other cluster, and it does the SAME thing!! My gaz gauge does not indicate the good fuel level... If my tank is full, the gaz gauge indicate 3/4... Whats would be the prob?? I need help!!! Thank you!!
In the FAQ's located at the top of the main page you will find the link for Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) - Within the TSB list you will find the link for Inaccurate Fuel Gauge Reading which takes you to a .pdf download that contains, but is not limited to, the following:
Edit: After searching the forum, there are a number of existing threads for this same problem. The problem continued even after some people replaced their gauge clusters. I guess it's just "one of those things."
Inaccurate Fuel Gauge Reading
SYMPTOM
At any fuel level, the fuel gauge reading drops by 1/4 tank, or 3 to 4 graduation marks. In some cases, the fuel gauge indicates “E” and the low fuel warning light is on. After driving for several minutes, or cycling the ignition switch off/on, the fuel gauge returns to the correct reading. This problem is intermittent, and it affects only Civics with Visteon gauge assemblies.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The software specification for calculating the current fuel level is incorrect.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the gauge assembly.

Yep, ive read it.. Its not the cluster for sure, its the 3rd Cluster that Ive install!!! Its impossible! They allll do the same thing! So it would be in the fuel sending unit.. something in that is going wrong.. I really have to check it!!!
i pay little attention to the gague, unless the light comes on, i watch how many km's i've gone mostly.
Ex. 50 Liter tank, when its on half it will only take 15-18 liters, lol
