Can't give you a definitive answer but why not just get a Qualf(sp) steering rack replacement gear? Would give you almost the same responsiveness as power steering without all the issues of installing the reservoir and pump.

He just wants it! He doesn't want to have a manual rack.

Not sure if the sedan rack would fit. The part numbers between the Si and the sedan rack are different.
Best bet would be to just get a unit of a CRX Si.

A friend of mine had a 91 hatchback civic dx automatic with power steering i'm sure that rack will fit and all the other components involved. Go to the dealer and ask them or check your local junkyards maybe you'll get lucky and find one you can get everything off of.

Funny... I looked up the part number on autozone.com as well as a dealership site hondaautomotiveparts.com and both list the CRX Si.

The real point though is that the part number for the manual racks didn't match between the sedan and CRX. After thinking a bit more about it, this could be simply for the turn ratio. The sedan 'may' fit, but you would be much better off getting one from a hatch (if it fits) or even better yet from a CRX.

i don't believe that the CRX had power steering, but Honda lists parts for it - could just be a mistake - if you look at crossmembers, they all say P.S.

I R fail... SiR and some of the ZCs had it as well (that I'm positive about because I've seen it). Not sure if you would have to flip the rack somehow to make it work on LHD.
USDM CRX - I don't have one and don't know their trims much either... so I went back and investigated much closer- Si listings show manual boxes (although autozone fails and shows an Si model and then power steering box junk - gave me the impression they did have a power steering rack - and THEN they show a manual rack). HAP shows the Si model and manual... so... apparently no p/s on any USDMs.

Correct, no USDM CRX came with power steering.

Ever thought about using a crossmember and rack from a 90-91 EX? IIRC, they're the only USDM 88-91 Civics that had PS(maybe Wagovan too?)

Or how about using an EDM CRX crossmember and rack? They would be for the LHD and you could even steal the harness to plug it in.

I have a 1990 hatch that was originally auto and it has P/S.

My buddy has an 89 hatch that has P/S and is a manual.

It was an option, just not very common.

You cannot swap a RHD rack into a LHD car. Will not work.

You're link is to a 1990 Civic Si, Not a CRX. They didn't make ps for a rex from the factory in the USDM.

Looks like the crossmember from the civic is the same pn as the rex. So the rack should be able to bolt right up. The sedan should work.

OP, how about some pictures of the results. Also post some pics of the abs, and cc if you don't mind. I was thinking of doing the same. Want to see how it will turn out. gl
