My Car Won't Start With The Stock ECU
Hey everyone I have kind of an odd question. I normally run a chipped 0bd1 P30 in my car but its the month that my car is up for emissions. The last few years my car has been supercharged so i've always found someone to pass emissions for me. However this year the car is N/A again and pretty much stock so I was hoping to pass emissions on my own. I plugged in my stock ECU back in and it thru CEL 41 for the O2 sensor heater. Which makes since cause I run a AEM Wideband so I didn't even have a O2 sensor hooked up. So I finally got a stock O2 sensor and installed it the other night. I then drove 15 miles back to my storage unit where its being stored for the winter. The CEL didn't turn off driving up there and I later was told thats cause I need to unplug the ECU to reset it.
So anyways now to my problem. Today I went back to my storage unit to reset the stock ECU. I started the car up and pulled it out of the garage so I could pull my Del Sol in. Then I unplugged the ECU and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Then I plugged it back in and went to leave and the car wouldn't start. It would just crank over but never actually fire over. So I went back home and got my P30 and went back and it started just fine on the P30. I took it over to my friends shop where we realized the problem. For some reason the Immobilizer is preventing the car from fireing over on the stock ECU. Do any of you know why this might be considering it ran on the Stock ECU just fine 20 minutes prior? I'm sure the new O2 sensor wouldn't have anything to do with this. I just don't know why it would run fine at one moment then not the next.
Any help would be appreciated. The ECU is the one the came with the car and I still use the original keys too. Thanks.

Nope everything is the same. As I said I've been running on my stock ecu for over a month. Its just when I put a stock o2 sensor back in and unhooked the ecu to reset it it wouldn't start back up. The immobilizer light on the dash just sits and blinks when the car is in the on position or trying to crank over.
Hmm...not too sure about the immobilizer thing. I'm kind of wondering if it prevents theives from doing what you just did (removing the ecu and putting in another one) maybe there is some kind of locking mechanism??
thats what i'm thinking. I just don't know why it would do it with the exact same ecu? I'm wondering if maybe its cause I unplugged it and replugged it back in in such a short amount of time. During the summer when my car isn't in storage I pull my ECU each night. Even when I was testing to see how the car ran with the stock ECU I would pull it and the next morning it would be fine still. So i'll try fireing it over again on the stock ECU tomorrow when the car has sat without it all night.

So I kept the stock ecu unplugged all night and it still didn't start the following afternoon. A friend that owns a local shop is thinking there might be a lockout on the ecu where if its unplugged so many times it will automatically trigger the immobilizer and need to be reflashed by the dealer. Do any of you know of anything like that?
