There is a small metal retainer clip behind the door handle. Take a thin piece of metal (butter knife works in a pinch) and slide it between the handle and the door. The clip is horseshoe shaped and the open end faces the handle ****. Be careful, they are known as "OH **** CLIPS" in the industry.....they take off if your not watching.

number 17 is what the clip looks like. and if you look down your window winder in the direction that the arrow is pointing, that is the easiest way to see it.

If you don't have a special tool:
One "old mechanic's trick" is to drag an thin, old grease rag
along the seam where the ends are and the clip will snag
in the towel and pop out..
