Default 1991 BMW e34 535i (illinois)

*helping out a friend*
1991 BMW e34 535i Manual, No Rust, Tastefully Modified, Texas Car.

This car was purchased in July from 2008 and driven from Texas to Chicago where it has been since. The car when purchased came with many records from when the car was new. The car is a fine example of what I consider to be one of the best sporting sedans ever made. The m30 motor is robust and reliable, the chassis is confident and inspring, the interior focused yet comfortable, and the looks clasicly understated.

Current Condition
The exterior of the car is in 7 out of 10 condition. It has a scratch on the trunk lid, a slight crack in the plastic rear valance near the exhaust, and some scuffs on the plastic front lower lip spoiler. The rest of the exterior defies its nearly 20 year old age, likely due to a somewhat recent respray. The respray was likely due to vandalism which was documented via police report and included in the cars records. The car has NO rust on the body of the car. I have a strict policy that if I drive it in the winter it undergoes many washes including underbody washes to remove salt. Every door panel has its vin tag, meaning no accidents of any significance.

The interior of the car is similarly a 7 out of 10. The seats are aged, but not damaged, and since I have been owner they have been treated twice with Meguires leather treatment. The windows are tinted all around, a factory option according to the window sticker. The stock stereo was replaced with a Blaupunk Brisbane SD48(plays SD memory cards, usb hard drives, and aux both front and rear). This reciever was picked due to its flat black finish, and variable color display allowing me to both match the factory matte interior trim, and amber gauge/dash lights. The dash is in great condition with no known marks or scuffs, the door panels are in decent condnition. The stiching in the rear seat in the center portion near the top seems to be failing. The headliner was recently replaced, and the rear trunk deck was as well.

The engine/drivetrain is a 8 out of 10. Shortly after purchasing the car I replaced the clutch, rear main seal, and oil pan gasket. I drove the car for several months and experienced a problem with the head gasket. No overheating happened, but the head gasket failed cracking between cylinders 2 and 3. Instead of salvaging the head I found a lower mileage head from an automatic car and used that. The head was carefully inspected, all measurements were within spec (head was flat, valve guides were tight, seats were inspected, sealing surfaces were stoned). No expenses were spared in the replacement of this head, and head gasket. I was in the area so I figured it was a good idea to replace head rear oil seal, coolant blockoff plate seal, timing chain cover seals, timing chain guides, crank oil seal, cam seals, intake/exhaust seals, ultrasonically clean injectors, replace injector orings, replace thermostat, replace all belts, replace power steering resivoir, replace every intake boot, and vaccumm hose, wrinkle finish intake manifold, and valve cover, and ceramic paint (with oven baking) exhaust manifold. The car runs great burns no oil. I have been chasing a slight drip, and although I feel I have found it, I don't drive it enough anymore to say it has no leak. I have noticed on this and my other e34 that between 35-45 there is a slight vibration. It comes and goes, and most people I ask don't even notice it. As the car warms up it goes away. It is not suspension related.

The drive-train is also in great condition, no shimmys, no shakes. The lower control arms are Aluminum control arms, and recently replaced. The shocks are OEM replacments, with Bav Auto lowering springs. The Bav Auto springs create a lowered aggressive look, and don't upset the stock ride quality. The throwout bearing, although replaced when I did the clutch, it still seems to make a noise every now and again. Nothing alarming, just a wobbling sound when off the clutch and idling. The noise is only heard if you are in a drive through with the windows down where sound from below the car is magnified. The noise can also be heard if the car is idling and you are outside the car.

Tires/Wheels 10 out of 10.
The car currently comes with 15" MSW wheels mounted with Nokain Hakka 10(1). The tires are in great condition. The car comes with a set of 15" basket weaves with summer tires in poor condition.

KNOWN PROBLEMS:
The pictures show a cracked fog light, replacments have been ordered and will be here within days. The central locking system is slow and sometimes inoperative when the temperature is below 15 degrees and the car is not warmed up. I have ordered a new body control, and see that fixing the problem. In the event that it does not, I will either persue alternative fixes, or deduct $100 from the purchase price.

Please contact me email (d1sinfo.josh.gore|AT|Gmail.com) with any questions, if you feel a phone call is needed, provide your number and a good time to reach you. There are many local BMW e34(the body code for this car) community members who I could have independently assess the car upon your request.

Thanks,
Josh

Please note that is frost on the hood/roof/trunk and windows... Paint looks good, no spider-webbing like normally on metallic BMW colors.
