1.5L Vtec head on a STD. Block
I have a Vtec head off a 92-95 civic, it has smaller valves than my A6 head does, but no less it is a vtec head.. I'm thinking of putting it on a D15B(STD.) car that I'm going to buy.. I think this head would up the compression too much... I lost my "honda builders handjob" book that has the chart in the back, but it is the head with 27 1/2mm valves... Can anyone tell what this head came off of, or if it is even worth putting on the D15.. Thanx..
I have a JDM SOHC Vtec motor in my 89 hatch STD and the stamp on the motor reads "D15b7" From what I have been told it is the SOHC Vtec motor available in Japan. Unlike the 1.6 D16z6 available here in the US. So I guess that is what it came off of. I may be wrong but anyhow the little engine really pulls in my hatch but more so on the top end after Vtec kicks in.
NAH, that's not it, the D16Z6 was the top motor 92-95, but it wasn't the only Vtec D-series made... I think the head is off of what ever car says E-Vtec on the valve cover, civic VX maybe?? The D16Z6 has 30mm Valves, A6 has 29mm valves, and this head has 27 1/2mm valves ( wow, and that's all from mermory !!!, now if I could only SPELL !!! )...
I thought the D15B7 was a HF motor... Think maybe someone put a Z6 head on a HF motor and called JDM ?? But I maybe wrong...
