Default My turn: Just installed JDM 4-1 + SMSP Carsound Cat

Didn't have time to reset the ecu... friends and I were damn happy to be done... took about 3 hrs... finished at around midnite. Then everyone went home to bed.
After I got home, I got out of the car and noticed this kind of burnt smell? Could it be from the JDM header (I got it used) or the brand new cat?
Should I even bother resetting the ECU? I've heard that it should learn to correct by itself?

Burnt smell is normal. Probably from new cat.

Reset the ecu, only takes a few min.

Smell/smoke should be coming from the oils that were treated on the 4-1 header... could also be the cat too. Wait a day or two... it should go away! I installed my JDM 4-1/carsound cat last week... I'm still loving it!

Can you FEEL the VTEC pull?

My car idled a little high after the install... resetted the ECU and it was fixed.

now i dont understand why you would need to reset the ECU?? it constantly adjusts for a changing environment. but whatever...godd job!!

I think resetting the ECU just gets it done faster, instead of having to wait for the ECU to adjust itself.

It takes time to adjust, I believe, just like when switching octane, it takes a couple of tanks before it has fully adjusted.

Yes, but the long term offset values are not updated immediately. I'm not sure if the ECU will ever update those long term offsets.

I read the Hondata article.

They say that ODBII engines have 2 O2 sensors (One before the cat
and one after).
My R has only one O2 sensor before the cat.

Does that mean that it's a ODB1 engine ?

Yup, all Euro ITRs are OBD1.

I guess I'll reset the ECU today. Well so far the car feels a bit torquier... but honestly my butt dyno sucks
Actually one more question... how "tight" should the connection be between the header collector and the cat? I didn't compress the 2 springs on the bolt all the way...

So what kind of cat back exhaust are yall running behind the Carsound Cat.

I'm going to get a JDM 4 -1 and a CarSound Cat, but not sure what kind of exhaust to get with it.

I been looking into Apexi WS.

Also.. I know the CAT has to be 2.5 on the end of the Header, but what size is the opening on the other end?
??

Apexi WS if you want quiet and a bit more agressive than stock.
