Benen Rear Lower Tie Bar
yup i have one right now on my crx. everyone on this forum doesnt like to provide help when someone asks. they ran out of polished bars so i bought the silver which still looks polished and worked with that.
as i posted yesterday and noone replied i if we can fit these bars not only for the rear but for the front also.
and btw the lower control arms said gold when i bought em but they look orange, either way i like em

what i did was: and be extremely careful!!!!
i bought the rear lower benen tie bar for the 92-95 eg. spent like 125. discount baby!
I went to my local muffler shop (KWIKWAY mufflers) And we held the tie bar in a visegrip with cloth protecting it from getting gouged. next step was getting a drill and adding the stepdrill piece to it. its the cone drill tip that has steps. Since it was a fairly small tip we ran it all the way threough the last setting which i can say enlarged the hole more than how it originally came. the reason why is that the distance with the mounting holes is smaller and it wont fit unless it is stretched or drilled out.
ok so after i drilled it out i bought some heavy duty washers from orchard supplies which were a bit smaller than the outer hole of the tie bar but allow enough movement to adjust the bar. It was fairly easy to mount but what i did as a precaution was buy some extended bolts that was also heavy duty and zinc plated so that they dont rust. im not really sure if the stock bolt is shorter but i wanted it done right the first time. the bar mounts on the outside of the lower control arms. It makes a big difference in reducing sway, but i also have a sway bar too which i added later.
lastly i added the benen sticker. and tada its pimp

and i did all this after i saw it done on that one guy chases crx that i saw on honda tuning mag. too bad i dont have a jdm front end. but i did change out my ugly rear 88 bumper for a clean 91. misinformed people that i was an 88 even though its 90 and up

EXACTLY! i saw it done so i went for it also. althought i didnt say so in the honda tuning magazine i made it happen, his was more viseable because his exhaust was straight through and didnt bend off towards the left . As for the setup i have, its Blox LCA 88-91 EF with Benen Rear Lower Tie bar 92-95 EG. And my little 3' chiseled truck tip. Maybe the bad about it is how my exhaust gets in the way but for my pleasure i know i have it. And also makes me wonder if its the same for the other efs since they have a fat can in the way......
i took more pictures and some from another angle, Look closely to where it mounts and see what i mean by "washers". and the reason for adding the bar was to straighten out to rear end also.

Deffinitly looks good, but by sloting out the mounting holes, it throws that little bit of strength it would add out the window and just becomes a shiny bar to look at...
can i add that mine isnt slotted its drilled out. although if they were slotted it might not be bad either cause the car doesnt pivot off the bar. the bar stays stationary.. i might just have to take it off to show you how i drilled it out. Its only drilled out to the point where it will mount perfectly, it is not too big but its not too small meaning it mounts great and works for what it was intended.
plus i wouldnt say its just a really nice beautiful shiny bar but it does make the car more rigid on my part and of course if you add the whole package it would work much better. but im a poor college student with lint as money. so im buying piece by piece.
i really think that this bar is better functioning that that of the skunk2 lower arm bar. i mean come one comparing thickness is just common sense. that bar looks like itll brake if you tap a sidewalk while parking. thats my opinion.
make it fit for looks and function.
dont hate cause its done just keep your negativity to yourself before it gets out of hand. i always read threads and it seems that someone has to open their mouth and cause a fuss. so please if its not what you like just leave it be.

seriously...seriously...why do people always start talking out their *** when someone asks a simple question...was a good post till the last part
hey! :/ here is an apology. sorry. (even though i wasnt talking out my ***, it was out my mouth) :D. take my apology. its free
So what does this bar actually do?
I mean, I guess I understand it is supposed to stiffen up the chassis, but does it really do much?
We're talking about a unibody, and putting one little bar across two holes for the rear LCAs doesn't really seem like it would do much of anything unless you're having serious flex issues - the kind that would be solved by welding in a cage or other chassis strengthening, not a small bar.

I have to agree here. Seems like a large waste of money that could be spent else where. I don't have one and my car handles great. Plus, I really wouldn't want to have to modify a brand new part only to see it do nothing.
its cool. my car and my money. and as i stated way back in the beginning it works. and i also added... "would work better if everything else was added." did i say that one bar will magically make the car handle better than a structurally built car??? nope. but if you want to be happy ill be adding a rollcage too. whats wrong with reinforcement? and i think the whole point was that if it fits or not. not does it fit and does it work and all that bs. the end
