what are these called/used for?
pretty sure its something having to do with the battery, im not an idiot but for some reason never knew what these (on the bumper) were called, and exactly used for: please help a brother out
The red and black caps are covers for the battery, yes. They relocated the battery into the bumper I guess. I don't know what the other two things are though, I can't see them clearly. Volt gauge maybe?
It looks like he put a set of terminal ends in the bumper, but I can't imagine why. I doubt he put the actual battery into the bumper though, seeing as how that would be a bad bad idea and you'd have to cut out a good portion of the support to fit it there. A lot of people relocate the battery to the trunk and place a kill switch on the bumper or license plate so that they can run it at the track and get through tech inspection. I've seen drag cars that had jumper terminals outside of the car so that between passes they could charge the battery up quick and run the car down the track. Some of them don't use an alternator and run electric water pumps and such, requiring the battery to be charged up before a run.
there used on show car track cars and drag cars mostly.. its so they can charge the battery quickly..and the guage is a volt gauge shows the battery meter.. and there is a switch to turn power on/off

i hear allot of people doing it on full track cars cause thier sneaky as **** and if the battery is drained then dont need to pop the hood to jump it also its allot faster if you car dies when your trying to stage you dont have to pop the hood especially with hood pins and all then worry about making sure its closed all the way just hook up jump it and go. still battery terminals exposed to the weather dosent seem like a good design idea.
whoa ive never seen the battery moved to the bumber... strange though, you get hit in the rear, there goes your battery. lol
From the looks of it, the terminals are too close for it to be a battery, i'm thinking they just extend the wires from the battery into another set of terminals.
the battery is in the trunk.. in a battery box... there is no room in the bumper for a battery lol.. it has to be relocated and D.O.T approved!! they have it in the battery box with extended battery terminals

why does it have to be D.O.T. approved? just hella curious. thanks.
haha. you coulda asked me man.
that yellow race car eg with the j's wing that rolls around the nw has those, but his are coming out of the rear hatch i believe.

i know the owner of this car yes those are battery terminals he has a voltage gauge and a kill switch...(on-off) but the battery is in the trunk not the bumper...
funny idea, i don't think i'd leave the kill switch on the exterior. and the volt gauge i think should be seen from the drivers seat, not where you'd never be able to see it. but i seems pretty functional to have battery terminals on the exterior, daily or weekend warrior/track car. (besides the fact that would could easily blow someones fuses/electrical system.)
lol. also looks like a remote control car that has an on/off switch with a volt gauge
