94 civic dx problems
Ok, well for starters, i am new to this forum. My name is JB and i am 16. I am the proud owner of a 1994 Honda Civic dx.
I began this project a while ago. I figured that it would be a great all around car (i did it mostly just to have something to play around in because i already have a 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage as a dd). I thought about a swap but i couldnt find the motor i wanted for the price i wanted and i already had the d15b out so i just painted the engine bay. I got everything to back together like it was and of course it was when the problems started...first was the starter but that was no biggy, just replaced it. Then it werent gettin fuel too well. After a long time of pondering over it, we took the fuel pump out and the fuel tank looked like someone had puked in it.
but again not too much to worry bout just cleaned it out, put new gas in it, cleaned out lines, injectors, and new fuel filter. It ran perfect for about a week then showed symptoms of sputtering. My father and I have talked to many people and have replaced many of parts. It finally just came to a point of no more money is being sent on it till we know what is certainly wrong with it. Now, a couple of days ago my father talked to some honda enthusiasts and they told him about the lil codes and gave him a chart. We have searched and searched and cannot find them stupid lil wires you plug up to see the codes...soo my question is where are they at???

The 2-pin connector that you jump to read the codes is on the passenger side of the vehicle above the pcm (passenger foot well area, in front of the door), or in that general area. It took me forever to find the correct connector on my 94 DX the first time I went looking, and I actually ended up taking the glove box out in order to get a better look. It ended up being tucked up in the dash in that area. You may also run into the 3 pin connector in that area, this is NOT what you need.

The 95-97 free online shop manual at http://ww1.honda.co.uk/car/owner/workshop.html will help you with the codes for your 94 and retrieving them. Look under the "fuel emissions" section. See also the free online manual at autozone.com. You want to use these manuals often for troubleshooting and general repairs. While they are not perfect, they are far more so than the typical home mechanic or even many auto technicians.
