Default f22b2 performance

Well, I have all of the I.H.E. taken care of, and I have a pretty sweet looking car, but it's still a mainly stock Honda Accord. And it is kind of embarrassing when a nice Jetta or Subaru pulls up and is all cocky wanting to race, and I basically have to hand it to them because my car is still, well, not fast at all.

I want a project, something fun, to make this thing go fast. If y'all want to suggest turbo's, engine swaps, whatever, I'm down to listen. I just wanna know what you all have to say.

The one advantage those Jetta's, Altima's and Subaru's have is weight.
The Accord is at a disadvantage because of this.
It's intended target market was the "Geritol and Tissue Dispenser" crown that drove it to the weekly arts show.

To be really serious, you've got to do some serious planning and be willing to plop down "some" money.

In my mind, there are two avenues of thought.
1) Make it accellerate and go as fast as you can OR
2) Make it so you don't have to slow down as much.

Personally, I built mine around phylosophy #2
Upgraded suspension
Upgraded Brakes
Lighter Rims
Wider Tires
Free-Flowing exhaust
Tuned C.A,I
50 state street legal

Why? Because here in the Northeast, there is very little opportunity to get anywhere near terminal vilocity. My ride may not be the fastest, but I'll certainly beat you thru the turns (every time) and arrive first.

Phylosophy #1 is far more $$$ intensive and can involve such things as
Manual transmission Swaps
Major Engine massaging
and all the other stuff that goes with it.

Other than that and you'll be auditioning for the next
"Fat & The Furious" movie

oh, and put it on a diet

The F22B2 / 5th gen Accord, (and any othe Accord) is a ma and pa grocery getter off the hop. You will requie $$$ and a huge diet if you wan to beat those small little POS Jetta's & Boob-A-Roo's. Do some searching and if you have the Cash it can be done.....

*sigh* i feared this was the case, I had a Nissan Altima before my Accord, and it was the same, a ol' girl that couldn't accelerate because her *** was too big.

I think I'm going to go route number 2 for a while. Anyone know if a rear-disc conversion and some aftermarket brake lines and such yeild much results for stopping power? What else should one do about suspension.

Rear disc conversion is good, do you need it? Nah not yet.
Rear disc only contribute to about 20-25 % of the breaking power. So unless you plan on using your city streets and highways as roadcorses or tracking the car at autox or track days, its not a priority right off the bat. Dont get me wrong if thats what you want to do then do it cause it would be an awesome improvement, but you would REALLY notice this upgrade on the track.

A good suspension setup will do wonders for the accord, along with sway bar setup. I am not going to say one brand or another because, it would be my personal opinion. People are having great results with numerous different setups. Study up on some different suspension setups, there are some really good threadson suspension in the FAQ or lost in webspace that could use a bump or two.

Steal braided brake lines are a good improvment aswell.

What are your goals with this project?

I'm just a 17 year old with a new pretty car, I don't have the money or man hours to do a full blown overhaul, I was just wondering some quick, not SUPER expensive things to do, like brakes or a couple pieces of suspension or a cam or something like that.

Currently I have new bushings for the front and linkages for the rear to fix my camber. The guy that had it before me lowered it a solid 2+ inches but didn't fix the camber so its toast. Once that is done I have nothing else to work on, and my last car was a pile of crap, so I need a project.

if you got a 5spd get a light weight fly wheel, up grade ur clutch you'll get a lil accell out of that. or up grade ur fuel pump fuel lines and injectors. heck put a msd ignition on it. get thicker spark plug wires an better 4 prong plugs, lil things like that over time will get u a lil somethin to be proud of!!

You won't get acceleration from a lighter flywheel and an upgraded clutch. And upgrading a fuel pump, lines, and injectors is not going to help you either if you don't have anything done. You're just wasting fuel and money.

And MSD ignitions switches cause more trouble than they're worth with Hondas.

Thicker spark plug wires and 4 prong plugs are also worthless.

Surprised you didn't suggest a grounding kit or eBay chip

You can do Bisimoto or Delta cam for your F22B2 engine. Skunk2 has cam gears for that engine too.
