The stock brakes on my HX are wobbling. The previous hoe must not have known how to stop and warped them. So i've found some nice x-drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pads for 100$ for the entire front. Is this a good combo? What are my options as far as the gay rear drums? I'm trying to do this extremely cost-effectively..

what cars brakes will work? Do I just take off the drums and bolt on the discs? Or is there more too it than that?

oh thats crazy man! that sounds almost too easy lol. What will I need? Just the caliper and rotor and pads? Or the whole hub or what?

I would really suggest leaving the rear drums. They're lighter, virtually maintenance free, and the front brakes are doing most of the work.
no youll need everything off the rear.
but you really dont need rear disk inless you want them
just invest in some good front brakes, they do all the work anyway.

Slotted rotors! and dimpled are good too, stay away from drilled rotors. Even the best drilled rotors tend to crack. As for the rear conversion, not all integras/civics will work...easily. Not sure on the hx but I assume it is the same as the other 7th gens. you will need the si or DC2 set up and don't forget the proportioning valve.
Don't get cross drilled and slotted rotors. They don't work any better on a car that isn't tracked and they warp really fast. I have brembos on my civic si and I can't wait to get rid of them. Get OEM rotors and EBC pads. That is my recommendation.

will drilled rotors wear the pads quickly too?
tercel95- The warp really fast??? wtf?? I thought thats the point of the cross drilling and slotting, so they didn't warp easily?

By the way, rotors only warp if you screw up the installation.

on a HX they have smaller disk then EX/SI spindles. the hx has small *** rotors and if you change the spindles off a EX/SI spindles on and have more brake disk and bigger pads.
If you guys had read through the link I posted, you'd see everything you need to do to perform ANY brake upgrade and the parts you need.
Rotors can warp in numerous ways, be it heating the **** out of them and fading the brakes consistently, torquing the wheels improperly, or installing them onto the hub wrong. Also, over time rotors will warp as they wear down. The less material on the rotor itself, the more prone it is to warping, especially on a larger vehicle like a van.
85_305, if you want to upgrade the front, just use the EX/Si fronts. For the rear, use the 99-00 Si rear. The thread states all the parts you need to purchase and EXACTLY what you'll need.
Unfortunately the thread I posted is the original. Redline96LX got banned and BrakeExpert took over in his place and made a HUGE new thread for all of this with both charts on it along with a ton of other information added to it. For some reason his post got deleted and he was banned also, so idk WTF happened. This WAS the new thread:

He had a giant paragraph about slotted/crossdrilled brakes. Anyways, don't use them, they're junk. You'll regret it after using them. If you want some nice rotors, purchase some Brembo blanks. For pads, you can cheap out and get some at the local parts store or do like most of us do and order a set of Hawks.

I have used slotted rotors and drilled rotors. The reason for the slots/drills is to cool down and remove gas created by the pressure and heat when the pads compress. I have never had any warp (btw you will find many articals done that dispell the myth of "warpage" within proper installation.) Mine have been used and abused and the only problem I have ever had was cracking on the drilled rotors. However, they are really only signifigant on cars with higher brake loads or cars under constant duress such as track use and really aggressive driving.

The Honda Man- Good stuff.. thanks bro. I think I'll just do that instead. I'm gonna look into the Si upgrade, and maybe get some better ceramic pads.
hondachris- thanks for the input man. I thought that was a bit odd that a rotor DESIGNED to not fade/warp were claiming to fade and warp lol. But I'm gonna stick to this small Si upgrade, a pad upgrade, and probably call it a day.
