your thoughts on the suzuki SV 650S??
I am thinking of this one vs. the GSX-R 600. I am a newer rider. I am confident I could handle the gixxer. BUT, I am not confident I want the gixxer. The SV is quite a bit cheaper. And they can be made to look just as nice for a few hundred bucks.

I like riding to enjoy myself, not stunting or breaking the sound barrier. I rarely even go on the highway, just cruise along country roads, go to the lake, etc.
So enough rambling, what would you do? SV with fairings or GSX-R?

I think the sv650 is an excellent choice and i have recommended it in the past as a beginner bike.
there isnt all the expensive fairings to replace if you have a spill, and they are very rider friendly. It is becoming VERY popular as a beginners race bike because it is such a good all around bike.
I wouldnt recommend the fastest 600cc streetbike to a novice, you can get into trouble too easy.
I think you will be very pleased with an sv 650. Many racers have been able to fit gsxr600 bodywork onto their sv's. That being the case you could by an sv 650 (naked model) Buy a set of sharkskinz fairings and install them and have a trick bike. Or you could buy the sv650s and put the aftermarket lower and tail section on it like the one in your pic.

They are really good starter bikes. Enough power and handling to last for a while. You may even get to keep it for a while as they have a fair amount of character. There was a project SV in Performance Bikes a while ago, they tried to compete against a 748, i will see if i have the article somewhere

Which one is that a pic of? They only come in silver, and blue/silver. My best friend has a silver sv650s, and he loves it. He got for $5500 out the door, thats what the dealer pays, he did his research. I love the yellow sv650, but the no fiaring looks gay. I am thinking about getting the blue one
the one in the pic is custom. I got the picture from http://www.svrider.com

I am not in it for the looks, although I would like a good looking bike (who wouldn't).
I am not in it to do any racing. That **** just scares me. At least it does now, who knows a few months, years down the road.
I enjoy crusing around, taking short trips just for the hell of it. I won't use the motorcycle as primary everyday transportation. It is more of a recreational thing.
Thanks for all the input guys.
Kyle.
